Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
The $163.85 charge cannot be explained by a $109 annual price plus 15% tax, so open the Microsoft order details and tax invoice to identify the subscription price, tax, and any additional item before asking Billing Support to correct it.
For clarity, $109 plus 15% tax is $125.35, leaving an unexplained difference of $38.50 from the amount charged.
Check the invoice breakdown
- Sign in to Microsoft account Order history using the Microsoft account that purchased the subscription.
- Select Payment & billing > Order history.
- Set the date range containing the $163.85 transaction.
- Open Order details for the completed charge and check:
- Microsoft 365 plan and billing period
- Base subscription price
- Tax amount and jurisdiction
- Additional products or separate line items
- Order number and payment method
Microsoft documents this as the location for reviewing purchases and printing order details.^1^
If available, select Tax invoice under the order details. Tax invoices show the items purchased and tax breakdown by jurisdiction, although they can take 48 hours to five days to become available.^2^
If the charge is missing from Order history, open Payment options, select Investigate, and search for the charge. It could be associated with another Microsoft account or a family member’s purchase.^3^
Contact Microsoft Billing Support
Because the invoice amount differs from the quoted amount, Billing Support must inspect the transaction and determine whether a price adjustment or refund is due:
- Open Contact Microsoft Support.
- Enter: Microsoft 365 annual subscription charged $163.85 instead of quoted $109 plus tax.
- Select Get Help.
- If the automated guidance does not resolve it, select Contact Support.
- Choose the Microsoft 365 billing/subscription category and an available chat or callback option.
Have the order number, invoice, charge date, and any written evidence of the $109 quote ready. Do not post those details publicly.
If you want to cancel and seek a refund
For a subscription purchased directly from Microsoft, go to Services & subscriptions, select the subscription, and choose Manage > Cancel. The cancellation process automatically displays whether that transaction qualifies for a refund; not every cancellation does.[^4^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Microsoft subscription refund policy | Microsoft Support")
If the invoice shows that the subscription was purchased through Apple, Google Play, Amazon, or another retailer, the retailer—not Microsoft—must handle its billing or refund.[^5^](https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/[Subscription ID] "Cancel a Microsoft 365 subscription | Microsoft Support")
