Hi Marissa,

Please provide full details on the problem you are experiencing with the Office apps, are you unable to use the apps, if so, what error is indicated (a screenshot of the problem would be great) and are you using the Office apps on a Windows PC or an Apple Mac computer, or is this a subscription problem, please provide full details.

I can open my e-mail now, but I keep getting threats - you want me to create a Passkey (on a laptop??) or create an e-mail to which a code to open my e-mail will be sent. You speak of "facial recognition" which I do not have. To keep my e-mail, I am given no possible options.

‎ My e-mail is not home or business. My e-mail is home AND business. Your AI wants me to choose. I cannot choose - it is BOTH.

‎ I am NOT working on a phone. I am working on a LAPTOP - NO PHONE - LAPTOP. Explain to AI: That means NO SCREENSHOTS, NO PASSKEYS, NO FACIAL RECOGNITION.

When you create an Email account, that is basically the same as creating a Microsoft account, and they usually want you to add another Email address or Phone number to your account in case you get locked out of your Email account so they can send you a recovery code to regain access to your Email account, this is just a precaution to ensure you do not get locked out of your account.

Are you now able to access your Email account?

I keep getting a box in the middle of the screen asking me to create a Passkey. A Passkey doesn't work on my laptop. If I'm locked out of my e-mail, then how do I access my e-mail to get a code to open my e-mail? Why would they lock me out of my e-mail? I've had this e-mail for a long time and never been locked out - why do they want to do this to me now? They are creating a problem where there is none. I'm trying to work, this box keeps popping up asking me to create a Passkey. STOP IT.

That popup about a passkey is because they are trying to get everyone to move from a password login to a Passkey which is more secure, there is no actual method available to remove that passkey popup when you initially access your account, but if you leave your Email open, it should not appear again until you shut your PC down.

The Passkey box keeps reappearing, even after I've gotten rid of it. And now I can never turn off my computer? They think that is good? Obviously, they want everyone to open with a Passkey. I don't know how a Passkey works on a LAPTOP - I don't think it does. Actually, I have no idea how to use a Passkey. Why can't they let the people paying for their service decide FOR OURSELVES how we want to open our e-mail? They can recommend, but do not take the decision out of my hands. They want a Passkey - I cannot use one. Now let me use my e-mail in peace for my work and my life, as I have been.

Thank you DaveM121. I've read the directions of how to create a Passkey. Face on a Laptop? Fingerprint on a Laptop? Why is a PIN better than a password, do I not need to remember both? I have my Passwords written in CODE in a book in case I forget one - it is much more difficult to create a code for numbers - a word is easier to remember and more difficult to steal than numbers. TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION: I'm opening my e-mail on live.com. Now it asks me to select a method - I select Password. Sometimes I get a box telling me to create a Passkey. Sometimes my e-mail opens. Today, when my e-mail opens, I keep getting a box in the middle of the screen asking me to create a Passkey. I am not on a phone. I am on a laptop. I do not want a Passkey - I need my e-mail.

That is correct, they want us to set up a password and a PIN on the laptop and a passkey to access the Email and websites online, I just use a password for everything, I do not trust PIN codes, because I have seen too many people locked out of their device, because the PIN code is not accepted and I just close the annoying PassKey popups when they appear.

Me, too, DaveM121 - I've been closing the annoying Passkey pop-ups when they appear. Today the box is popping up more often, along with a threat that Microsoft will lock me out of my e-mail if I don't do what they want. I have seen fingerprint, face, and PIN not work. Fingerprint and face and Passkey won't work on my laptop anyway. My passwored always works - unless Microsoft does something bad. I'll need to find another cmpany if they do that, but I don't want to. I just renewed with Microsoft for a year. They are wrong about the change they want being better - it is the opposite of better. I hope they stop these threats.
