When I enable the New PDF Viewer feature flag in Microsoft Edge, a password-protected PDF fails to open. The password prompt appears, but after entering the correct password it just prompts again. The same PDF opens correctly in:
Please advise whether this appears to be a browser regression or a file-specific issue, and if there is a workaround besides disabling the flag.

Then the only conclusion is that something is wrong with the PDF file itself password_is_password.pdf
Most likely, either the password is not "password", or the internal structure of the file is broken.
The Maximum length of the Password that is being used for Encryption is 32 characters. If you supply to the scheme a password longer than 32 characters, anything beyond 32 is just discarded.
When Adobe Reader asks for your Password to decode the file, it reads the input, discards anything beyond 32 characters, and decodes it using that.
With Edge, if you enter a Password longer than 32 characters it attempts to use the full string, which fails. If you manually truncate the password in the Edge Password box to 32 characters - IT WORKS. Edge can open the file.
The fix should probably be that Edge truncates user input to 32 characters before attempting the decode.
